What To Do When You're Feeling Stuck In Life
Ever felt like you’re stuck, feeling like you’re yet to find “your thing”, and if only you were blessed and lucky enough to find it, you would stop at nothing to succeed?
Well, you’re not alone, and this is the case for most people. Although it may seem like you’re the exception, and you can think of multiple cases where the person just knew what they wanted and what they needed to do, the fact is, they’re the special ones.
Arnold Schwarzenegger, Conor McGregor, Elon Musk, and so on.
They knew without a shred of doubt what they were going to do, and that’s exactly what they did.
But not everyone has such luck, to stumble upon something that pulls them with such force that they’re willing to endure years of pain and suffering, just to taste success on the other side.
For most people, though, it’ll have to be done another way.
Without Fucking Around, You'll Never Find Out
What do you think the solution is? Is it just to write yourself off early? Believe that because you weren't as 'lucky' as Arnold, you’ll never do anything with your life?
Is it to wait around and hope that the ‘thing’ eventually finds you, and just exist, living a life you dislike in the meantime?
Not the best set of options if you ask me.
But there is something better, something that doesn’t guarantee that you’ll find it, yet still beats your current solution every. single. time.
It’s very simple. The solution is anything. Do anything.
If whatever you’ve currently been doing has yet to reveal the thing that you want, what makes you think this will change? What makes you think continuing to do what you’ve always done will produce a different result? We all know the common phrase here.
If you didn't like where you lived, but also had no idea where to move to, the answer would be the same - Anywhere.
“But what if I don’t like it there, either?” Great, move again. At least now you’ll have more information and more experience, which allows you to make a more informed decision next time.
You might not like your current location due to the lack of greenery, that’s one data point. So you move to somewhere that has plenty of nature, only to find out there’s a major lack of opportunities, and you don’t like it there either. Did you fail, or did you just double the amount of information you have to make a decision?
Choosing what to do for the rest of your life is the same, which is why the answer is anything. You’re not trying to pick the right thing, you’re trying to do anything other than what you’ve done up to this point. You need more information.
You might get lucky and nail it first try, but even if you try and ‘fail’ 10 times, at least now you’re 10x closer to finding it….
“But what if I waste time?” - You’re already doing that.
“What if I fail?” - You’re already failing, at least now you’ve learned something.
“What if I never find it?” - At least you tried.
There was a man who worked multiple, random jobs, including farmhand, street conductor, railroad worker, salesman and lawyer. None of them worked out.
But then he opened up a restaurant, which found a little success….until changes to the roads reduced footfall and the business collapsed.
Into his mid-60s, he had nothing and lived off a small pension, until one day he tried again with his fried chicken recipe…but got rejected 1000 times.
But one person said yes, and we’ve all been enjoying KFC ever since.
It’s never too late, and you can never ‘fail’ too many times.
Take action, move, do something, do anything, fail, learn, try again, fail, learn, try again, win, fail, try again, win, win, win.
If you feel stuck and don’t like where you are, move, go anywhere, ESPECIALLY if you don’t know where to go.
