Life's Obstacles
Sometimes life gets in the way. And when you're trying to make things happen and trying to achieve your goals, it can get quite frustrating to have to put them on hold.
This is one of the downsides of self-improvement; it can take over a lot of mental headspace, and when it has to take the back seat, all you’re left with is the desperation to get back to the grind.
I’m currently writing this because my partner and I are in the midst of relocating to another country, and my days are filled with hours of shopping for furniture in the mornings and then hours of building it in the evenings.
As a result, I have no time to do things I would usually be doing, like working out, eating healthy, learning, working or writing a full blog.
But this is a part of the game. Sometimes shit happens.
A family member gets ill, you get into an accident, or an unforeseen virus takes over the world.
Whatever it may be, sometimes we have to put what we want and aim for to the side, and deal with what’s in front of us, and that’s exactly what I’m doing this week, which is why this blog is so short.
I wanted to at least get something out, and why not use what I’m dealing with as a reminder to you that something will always get in the way, It’s up to you to deal with it in the best way possible.
Remember, the obstacle on the path becomes the path.
I’d also like to add that the longer you’re on the journey of self-improvement, the less damaging these obstacles become.
For example, if you start working out for 3 weeks straight, then get injured for a week, that’s 25% of your fitness journey affected. This can be enough to derail this person and knock them back to their old ways.
Now think of what that same injury would feel like to someone who has been working out for 3 years. Probably nothing, in fact, maybe even a relief.
Therefore, although this move has stopped almost everything, I have enough experience and time in the game that I know with confidence that I’ll be back.
I want you to walk away from this week's blog with three things in mind: 1. Life's obstacles are unavoidable, so don't let them derail you; 2. With sufficient experience and time, these obstacles will affect you less, so if you're just starting and facing one, remember that it gets easier. 3. When life gets in the way, there's always something you can do (which is a little sneak peek for next week's blog).
Thanks for reading, see you again next week (hopefully for a better one).
